Welcome to our continued A-Z's of Sensory Play for Kids series here on GRB. Today I want to welcome Alecia from Learning 2 Walk who is sharing a fun bubbles sensory play idea with you all. Thanks Alecia for sharing with us today!

Thank you Heather for giving me the opportunity to share on Golden Reflections Blog. Today I will be sharing with you a few preschool sensory activities that involve bubbles.

Sensory play is something that is done several times a week at our house and I love sharing a few of them on my blog. My daughter J is what I like to call a sensory addict. She craves new experiences and loves repeating a few old ones as well. While mommy is her sensory provider. Its a fantastic relationship. I am sure you have heard of sensory bins and other types of sensory play, but have you ever allowed your preschooler to engage in sensory play with bubbles?

B is For Bubbles Sensory Play

What You Need

  • 3 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • a bowl
  • a mixer
  • large spoon
  • a container to place your bubbles in
  • washable paint (optional)
  • glitter (optional)

Directions

1) Place the 3 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid in the bowl as well as the 1/2 cup of water. If you would like to make your bubbles coloured, then add a few drops of washable paint.

2) Mix on high for about two minutes in order to create enough bubbles.

3) Use a spoon to scoop out the bubbles and place the bubbles into your container.

4) If you want to create additional colours, repeat steps 1 to 3.

5) Sprinkle glitter on top of the bubble that is in the container.

6) Invite your preschooler to play if they are not already begging to do so.

How We Played

J, my daughter, immediately tried smelling the bubbles. Then she touched it and observed the glitter. After about 20 seconds, she left caution to the wind and went crazy. She covered her hands with it and then she stated hiding toys in the bubbles. Once she got bored of that, she went on to giving her toys a bath.

She also tried blowing the bubbles around and I was almost tempted to put some on my face and pretend to be Santa.

A few other ways to play with bubbles are:

  • scooping
  • stacking (yes try piling the bubbles on top of each other)
  • give it a theme

Alecia is a mom of 2 and blogs about all things homeschool preschool related such as preschool sensory activities, preschool lesson plans at Learning 2 Walk. You can also find her on Pinterest, Facebook as well as Twitter and Google +.
