Recently I shared about how I want to set up intentional, hands-on learning time with my toddler. But sometimes I could use a little help in coming up with those activities. I think using our Kiwi Crate subscription will be a great addition to our tot school days.

I had heard of Kiwi Crate before, but never had a chance to try out one of their kid craft boxes. So when I was given the opportunity to share about their boxes with my lovely readers, I jumped at the opportunity.

Our Kiwi Crate Adventure

Opening this Kiwi Crate box was like Christmas morning. Ellie had a great time seeing what was inside. I let her look through the box on her own after I made sure everything was okay for her to handle. The theme of our box was “Wonders of Water” which was perfect since we just had Ellie's 2nd birthday fish themed party a couple weeks ago.

After she dug through everything, I started looking through the items and reading about the different activities we could do. I was super impressed by what was all included. They even sent kid's scissors and a little plastic cup that we needed for one of the water activities.

I was immediately drawn to the color mixing activity with water. Ellie is a water girl, so I knew this one would hold her attention and that she would enjoy it.

We pulled her little activity table out on the front porch and I grabbed all the items we needed for this color mixing craft.

I read through the directions to make sure I knew what to do and then showed Ellie how to color on turtle. She loves ocean animals and has been drawn to turtles lately. So I wasn’t surprised that she picked the turtle cut-out for this.

We also tried another activity about surface tension on a penny. While she may have been a little young to get the overall concept of surface tension, she loved trying to squeeze drops of water on the penny. A great fine motor skill to have I might add!

What did I think About Kiwi Crate?

I will be honest, I was a little worried that the materials would be sub-par or that the activities would not be worth the monthly price. However, I was very impressed when I opened up the box and saw what all was included AND the quality of the materials.

As a busy mom, I appreciated the fact that I could open the box and everything was there for me to do. I tend to come up with all my own things, but I liked that I didn't have to do that with Kiwi Crate. Literally everything was done for me. And it gave us a good two days worth of activities to do. We actually still have a few of the water mixing animals left, so we will probably finish those up this week.
